Why a Co-Op?

We know how important it is to have parental support throughout the many challenges of parenthood. Meanwhile, our children thrive on social interactions.

We are starting a new childcare program to support parents and children in our community.

Many of us have similar needs when choosing childcare:

Foremost we look for a socially and emotionally supportive environment with experienced and nurturing caregivers.  Reliability is essential to maintain a busy life, oftentimes with both parents working, it can be a challenge to find the right program for our little ones.  Finally, affordability is important so our income can go furthest for our family. We hope to offer an affordable, reliable and most of all enjoyable opportunity for children and their parents.

What is Nature’s Child Co-Op

Playdate based childcare with parent involvement and nanny-share care.

The Co-Op will have a monthly membership cost and contribution from each family for childcare/ playdates. We are currently establishing the requirements of parent involvement and financial contribution for the program.

Our standards for childcare are high.  We aspire to be inclusive of all parents, though as a Co-Op we will set guidelines for appropriate childcare based on current child development studies.

How the program will work

Family Contribution:

We anticipate each family contributes 10 hours of volunteering care per month.

Care is to be like playdates: for our littles to play together and to offer time for parent’s errands or (imagine this) a date-night!

Nanny Share Concept:

We plan to collaborate with the local community for nannies to be trained in-home and most ideally with a background in early childhood education experience or higher education. These nannies will initially be our family support in the home for a designated amount of time. After the potential nanny completes this internship the Co-Op Parents will collectively choose the nanny dependent on decided criteria.

Each Membership will include 5 hours of nanny-share care for your family. By “sharing” a nanny as a collective, each family contributes to a fair wage and ensures a dependable schedule for the nanny.

Each nanny will have a background check, references and a depth of child development knowledge we aspire of each of our caregivers. We also encourage involved parents to complete further training in child development and aspire for each nanny to be STARS certified.
